The Reason for the Season

“Jesus is the reason for the season.”

I’m sure you’ve heard that quote many times in your life, especially around the Christmas season.

Since Thanksgiving is over, it is now officially the Christmas season. Many people get wrapped up in the rush of the Christmas season from buying gifts to baking cookies. Approximately two billion people celebrate Christmas every year but not everyone knows the true meaning of Christmas.

Luke 2:11 says “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” That verse states exactly why we celebrate Christmas. Christmas is the time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. He came down to Earth to die for us and on Christmas we celebrate Him coming to Earth.

We can still enjoy the season with baking cookies and having fun with others but we must not forget the real meaning of Christmas and how Jesus is the best gift given to us. So as we enjoy the Christmas season, let us remember Luke 2:11 and that Jesus is the reason for the season.

  • Hi, I’m Tania Griffin. I enjoy playing sports, like soccer or basketball, but when I’m not on the field or court, I take some time out of my day to write. I have always enjoyed writing even since I was in grade school. When I was asked to write blogs, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it. I’m not one for people reading my writing but when I realized, with the help of the Lord, that my writing could encourage someone or show them the way to God, I was sure I wanted to do it. I may not be great with words but with God by my side, I pray He will use me to spread His Word to people who choose to read my writing. Staying positive, Tania
