Luke 16:13 — Thinking Thursday

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Luke 16:13 (KJV)

Love God or love the devil? Sometimes that can be a hard choice. Oftentimes, we really want to sin. In cases like these, you need to pray and declare victory over the devil. By doing this, you choose to serve God and hate the devil.

First off, what does it mean to serve the devil and what are the consequences of it? We know that when one does not serve God that he serves the devil. In the Bible, Jesus talks about those who do not serve Him shall suffer in hell – the place of eternal damnation with unending torture greater than any pain on earth. Therefore those who serve the devil shall burn in hell forever.

Secondly, what does it mean to serve to serve God? To serve God is obeying and trusting in Him – believing. Serving God is putting Him in front of everything and giving it to Him: your own needs, friends, family, others. You spend time with Him and get to Him and know about Him. You allow the Holy Spirit to change you to become more like Jesus up until your death when you will be perfected. You will be able to love others like never before. In your life, the fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5 shall be found evident in you. In the end, you will spend eternity with God forever.

Isn’t serving God so much better than serving the devil? I think so. You will never be able to serve both God and the devil. You will either love God and hate the devil or love the devil and hate God.

I am naming today Thinking Thursday. I encourage you to think about who you are going to serve today – God or the devil? I also encourage you to pray to God saying that you are devoted to Him. By doing this, you remind yourself of Whom you serve – the King of Kings.

Have a blessed Thursday!

THANK YOU! GOD BLESS YOU! AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I grew up in a Christian home, but I never really came to know the Lord until I was twelve years old. As I’ve matured, the Lord has sanctified me in Him by His grace, allowing me to better glorify and honor Him. In middle and high school, I discovered my interest in essays and informational writing. As a Christian, I took my love for God and my love writing and squeezed them together into blog posts on my blog, which has turned into what is now the Truth and Love Ministries (TLM) Blog. When I was assigned to create a YouTube video for my Old Testament final in high school, I learned about my revived love for creating YouTube content. The next summer, the videos and the blog posts would turn my YouTube channel into an extension of the blog and TLM. Since then, I have continued to grow in the Lord and His Word, and as a student at The Master’s University, I am continually learning in my Bible classes about the greatness, deepness, and perfection of God Word. I hope to one day use the bachelors in Marketing Media that I am pursuing to share the the profoundness of God’s special revelation to His people.
